Hello All! One more day to the weekend.

In hopes of giving you a break in the middle of your Thursday, today I am sharing a TV show that I am loving, a podcast I found transformational, and quote that is both haunting and challenging when it comes to life and leadership. Enjoy, and have a blessed day!

Love

I have to be honest, I didn’t have high hopes for this season’s TV lineup. There have been so many new shows over the past few years that were terrible, and good shows that got cancelled (ahem, Parenthood). But, NBC’s This Is Us, seems so promising. I have loved the first few episodes and I am looking forward to seeing where each story line goes. So far the writing is stellar, and the only thing I am afraid of is this show breaking my heart with a few of the characters.

What TV shows are you loving this season?

Learn

One of my favorite things this year has been listening to podcasts. Some of the greatest creative minds of our day are being interviewed on or have podcasts of their own. For me, they have been such an incredible resource to learn from (and they’re free!).

One of the shows I subscribe to is Annie F. Down’s “That Sounds Fun.” Recently, she interviewed a friend of hers, the former leader of the Catalyst movement, Brad Lomenick. What started out as a light hearted conversation about life and sports turned into an awesome dialogue about identity, calling, and career.

So many of us have watched our parents or grandparents pour their whole lives into one career with one organization, while the job landscape today, for us, looks so different. Annie and Brad talk about this dichotomy, and what it means for our futures in an exciting and hopeful way.

No matter what your age, if you are asking questions about your identity, calling, and career—or even if you feel settled in all three areas—I highly recommend you check out episode 19.

“I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I am more afraid of succeeding at things that don’t matter.”

Where are you afraid of failing?

How do you decide what matters and what doesn’t?
